A belated honeymoon turns into a busman’s holiday when gardas Siobhán and Macdara Flannery find themselves investigating a dead body found in a fish and chips shop . . .

Siobhán’s brother Eoin’s new family restaurant, The O’Sullivan Six, is so close to opening—but waiting on the necessary permits plus the heat of July in the village of Kilbane in County Cork is driving everyone a bit mad. Macdara Flannery comes to the rescue with a plan—take a holiday by the sea and stuff themselves with fish and chips to support the struggling business of the aptly named Mrs. Chipper.

But when they arrive, a crowd is gathered in front of the closed shop: a local fisherman with a fresh cod delivery, a food critic, Mrs. Chipper’s ex-husband who’s opening a competing fish and chips shop directly across the street, and a repairman to fix the vent for the deep fryer. With Siobhán and Macdara as witnesses, a local handyman gets the locked door open, only to find the proprietor lying dead and covered in flour at the base of a ladder, its rungs coated in slippery fat. Clearly this was not an accidental tragedy . . .

Even as the local garda take over the murder investigation, Siobhán and Macdara can’t help themselves from placing their long-delayed honeymoon on hold—at least until they can help apprehend an elusive killer.

Good story line

The plot took enough turns to keep you guessing. it was nice to follow the O'Sullivan 6 as they matured.

Voice

I like the person chosen to read this. She changes her voice for different characters. She has a strong voice. The story itself was great! Carlene’s stories are wonderful. The characters are memorable because they are unique as the stories.

Such Fun!

I’ve enjoyed every book in this series. I love hanging out with the O’Sullivans in Ireland. Sadly, I devoured this book in one day and will have to wait again for the next book. At least I know it’s more than likely worth the wait, as each has been so enjoyable.

Always happy for the latest exploits of the O’Sullivan 6!

Such a fun cozy series. Always makes me chuckle out loud. Trouble follows Siobhan wherever she goes! ☘️

I’ve listened to this entire series several times. I truly enjoy them and can’t wait for the next one to come out. Perfect narration as always.

Great, Fun Listen

Loved the interactions between characters especially between family. Great mystery. Wonderful story. Fun read. Can't wait for the next book.

Always entertaining.

Fun in a macabre way. Siobhan is a bit much, mothering her siblings and inserts herself into another town’s murder while on “holiday.” But overall, the author had me guessing until the end. I very much enjoyed the narration and the story.

A look at small Irish villages and the interactions of the people.

This title was better than the others as its ending was not as much of a “Scooby Doo”.
All of the other books were totally “Scooby Doo” ending - story for x number of pages required and it’s a hurry up let’s revival who did what in 2-3 pages, story ends.
